Shores of Everett Lake (reservoir). Even though it's past peak, I really like the golden glow.
Why it's in the best of 2010 - for a lot of reasons, some of them emotional. You see, when I took this, I'd just come from my first post-op doctor's appointment which was really one of many cancer screenings I'll go through for the next 5 years. When I was diagnosed and the surgery scheduled I thought for sure I'd not be able to shoot in the fall due to recovery issues or possibly chemo/radiation. As it turned out, I only needed the surgery which I recovered from quickly and I could shoot pretty actively only 4 weeks later.
Technically this photo rocks. The color and the clarity is terrific and I remember hunting around on the bank looking for just the right foreground elements to frame the shot. I think the composition works well and just look how those birch trunks pop.
