Historic Saratoga Battlefield

The Battle of Saratoga in New York (October 1777) was the first significant victory for the fledgling Continental Army and signaled an upswing in foreign support for the American Revolution. Victory here kept British General Burgoyne from marching to Albany and taking control of the Hudson River which would have effectively split the New England colonies from her sisters and greatly weakened the collective power of the whole. The battle site is now a National Park which you can drive through to view important areas.

  • The Barber wheat field was a battle site basically in between the American position and the British Balcarres Redoubt at the Freeman farm. After fierce fighting the British were beaten back, but I doubt the Bakers got their field back.
